Helping placement students feel prepared.
PeerLight helps healthcare course (or related courses) students feel prepared before mandatory placements by sharing anonymous, structured insight from students who have already been there. Our goal is to reduce anxiety, improve preparation, and help students walk into placement with more confidence.
We are not here to name and shame.
PeerLight exists to support students, not to publicly criticise staff or providers.
We are here to help students prepare.
Reviews are structured and focused on practical, supportive insight.
All reviews are moderated before publishing.
Every submission is reviewed by a moderator before it appears.
Please keep reviews safe.
Do not share patient details, staff names, confidential information, or identifiable incidents.

Meet the Founder 👋
Hi, I’m Kacey, the founder of PeerLight.
PeerLight started from a moment where I nearly let uncertainty stop me from taking an opportunity that changed my future.
During my psychology degree, I was offered a placement working as a support worker with autistic children. On paper, it was exactly the kind of experience I was looking for; meaningful, challenging, and aligned with my future goals.
But instead of feeling excited, I felt overwhelmed.
I had so many questions that a placement description could not answer:
- “What does a typical day actually look like?”
- “Will I receive enough training and support?”
- “What do people wish they knew before starting?”
- “Is this placement right for me?”
I did not need another formal description. I needed honest advice from someone who had already been there.
By pure luck, I was connected with a student in the year above who had completed the exact same placement. One conversation changed everything. They shared the realities of the role, the support available, the challenges, and the moments that made it worthwhile.
That conversation gave me the confidence to say yes.
The placement went on to shape my career direction, strengthening my passion for supporting autistic children and inspiring my goal of pursuing Educational Psychology.
But I kept thinking:
“Why was access to that advice based on luck?”
Across universities, students make important decisions about placements, internships, and work experience while relying on scattered conversations and word of mouth. If you know someone who has been there before, you get guidance. If you do not, you are left figuring it out alone.
That is why I created PeerLight.
PeerLight is a student-powered community where experiences are shared openly, questions can be answered honestly, and students can support the next person taking the same step.
Whether you have completed a health, social care, or placement-based university experience, are about to start one, or are deciding whether an opportunity is right for you, your experience matters here.
Because one conversation can change someone’s confidence, their choices, and sometimes even their future.
Welcome to PeerLight x
Your experience is someone else’s guidance.
